01 — Consultation
We meet at your home to discuss your current bathroom, your ideas, and how the finished space should look and function — covering layout, design, finishes and fixtures to shape the right approach.
02 — Contract
Once the scope is set, you’ll receive a detailed quote and specification. When you’re ready to proceed, we formalise everything in a building contract, so both parties are clear on what’s being delivered.
03 — Selections
We guide you through choosing tiles, tapware, vanity, toilet, bath and shower fittings, colours and finishes — helping you make choices that work together visually and practically.
04 — Construction
David personally manages construction from start to finish, completing carpentry and coordinating trades — demolition, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling, cabinetry and painting as needed — while remaining your direct point of contact throughout.
05 — Completion
We carry out a final inspection, provide compliance certificates and warranty documentation, then walk you through your new bathroom and answer any questions. Your renovation is complete and ready to enjoy.

Together, we’ll discuss the layout, design, finishes, fixtures and any specific requirements for your bathroom renovation. This is an opportunity to understand your vision and determine the best approach for the space.
02 — Contract
Once the scope of your bathroom renovation has been established, you’ll receive a detailed quotation and specification outlining the agreed works, inclusions and selections.
Once everything has been discussed and you’re comfortable moving forward, we formalise the project with a building contract so both you and Betta Bathrooms have a clear understanding of what will be delivered.
03 — Selections
With the renovation confirmed, we work through the selections that will bring your bathroom design together.
We’ll guide you through choosing your tiles, tapware, vanity, toilet, bath, shower fittings, colours and finishes, helping you make choices that work together both visually and practically. Every selection contributes to the overall design, functionality and feel of your new bathroom.

04 — Construction
This is where your new bathroom starts to take shape. David manages the renovation from start to finish, personally completing the carpentry work and coordinating the required trades in the correct sequence. Depending on the scope of your renovation, this may include demolition, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling, cabinetry, painting and other specialist trades or services required to complete the project.
Throughout construction, David remains your direct point of contact, keeping you informed as the renovation progresses and ensuring each stage is coordinated efficiently.
05 — Completion
Once construction is complete, we carry out a thorough final inspection to ensure the bathroom has been completed to our standards and that the required works and finishes have been properly addressed.
We provide you with the relevant compliance documentation and certificates for the completed works, including plumbing and electrical certificates where applicable, along with any required builder’s warranty insurance documentation.
Finally, David will walk you through your new bathroom, explain any particular features and answer any questions you may have.
Your new bathroom is complete and ready to enjoy.

Do you manage the entire bathroom renovation process?

We manage the project from start to finish, including coordinating trades, scheduling works, organising deliveries and managing the removal of building waste. Our goal is to take the complexity out of renovating and hand you back a completed bathroom that is ready to use.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
The timeframe depends on the size and complexity of the renovation, but most of our bathroom renovations take approximately 5–7 weeks from commencement to completion.
The first few weeks generally involve demolition, structural work and preparation, meaning the more disruptive stages are completed early, and you can start to see your new bathroom take shape relatively quickly.
What's included in the proposal?
Our detailed proposal and building contract clearly outline the scope of work, inclusions, selections and payment schedule for your renovation.
Our quoted price includes the agreed labour, materials, GST and applicable insurances within the scope of the contract. If a variation is required during construction, it will be addressed in accordance with the terms of your building contract.
How much of the bathroom do you strip out?
We generally strip the bathroom back to the structure, including existing wall linings, ceilings, flooring and fixtures and fittings.
Stripping the bathroom back allows us to properly inspect what is behind the existing finishes and identify issues that may otherwise remain hidden. You would be surprised by some of the things we find once a bathroom is opened up.

Do you renovate small bathrooms and ensuites?
Yes. We renovate bathrooms and ensuites of all sizes and enjoy the challenge of making the most of smaller spaces.
Good design can make a significant difference to how a small bathroom feels and functions, and we carefully consider the layout, storage, fixtures and finishes to maximise the available space.
Do I need to move out during my bathroom renovation?
Not necessarily. Whether you need to move out depends on the number of bathrooms in your home and the scope of the renovation.
If you have two bathrooms, you can generally remain living in the home while one bathroom is being renovated.
If you’re renovating an ensuite, it may be more convenient to use another bedroom and bathroom during construction, although this isn’t always necessary.
If you’re renovating your only bathroom, living at home can be more challenging. Where moving out isn’t an option, temporary facilities may be possible depending on the property. Portable bathroom or ensuite facilities can also be arranged at the owner’s cost.
Do you renovate only part of a bathroom to save money?
In some circumstances, individual repairs or partial renovations may be appropriate. However, if the existing bathroom has reached the end of its useful life, renovating only part of the space may not address underlying issues.
A complete bathroom renovation allows the existing finishes, plumbing, waterproofing, structure and substrates to be properly assessed and, where required, replaced or upgraded.

Do you renovate more than bathrooms?
Yes. Coming from an established building background, we can also undertake other renovation work, including kitchens, laundries and associated building works, subject to our availability and the scope of the project.

Do you require a deposit?
Yes. Victorian law limits the amount that can be charged as a deposit for domestic building work.
For contracts under $20,000, the maximum deposit is 10%. For contracts of $20,000 or more, the maximum deposit is 5%. The majority of our bathroom renovations fall into the second category.
Do you require progress payments throughout the renovation?
Yes. Progress payments are made at agreed stages throughout the renovation as key stages of the project are completed.
The payment schedule is clearly outlined in your building contract before construction begins, so you know when each payment is due and what stage of the renovation it relates to.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Betta Bathrooms operates under registered building practitioner registration and maintains the appropriate insurance for our work.
We also work with experienced, appropriately licensed and trusted trades where required, ensuring each stage of your bathroom renovation is completed by the right professional.
Why is a registered builder needed to renovate a bathroom?
In Victoria, domestic building work valued at more than $10,000 generally requires a registered building practitioner and a major domestic building contract. Bathroom renovations commonly involve multiple types of building work and trades, making it important to engage a registered builder who can oversee the project and ensure the renovation is properly managed.
Why should I use a registered builder for my bathroom renovation?
Using a registered builder gives you greater confidence that your renovation is being managed by an appropriately qualified and registered building professional.
It also means the renovation is supported by the appropriate contracts, documentation, certificates and insurance requirements associated with domestic building work. This documentation can be important when you sell your property, as your conveyancer may request records relating to renovations and building work completed at the property.

What is epoxy grout?
Epoxy grout is a high-performance, non-porous grout that offers excellent resistance to staining, moisture and chemicals. Unlike traditional cement-based grout, epoxy grout does not absorb water in the same way and is easier to keep clean.
At Betta Bathrooms, we use epoxy grout where appropriate because we believe areas of your bathroom exposed to regular water should be finished with materials that provide excellent long-term performance.
